Alaskan Brown Bears, commonly referred to as Grizzly Bears, are amongst the largest bears in the world. After awakening from their winter hibernations, they return to a world glowing with the long days of Hoonah summer. They gorge themselves on salmon that return to the rivers to spawn, as well as bountiful arrays of berries. The Tlingit word for Brown Bear is “xoots.”
