Aplomado Falcon

The Aplomado Falcon derives its name from its blue-gray coloration. In Spanish, the word “aplomado” means “lead-colored.” While widespread globally, reintroduction programs have been implemented to restore it to its habitat Texas after it disappeared from these areas in the 1950’s. Falconers during the Renaissance were introduced to the Aplomado Falcon from the New World, and these “Alethes” were prized for their “high mettled,” relentless hunting style.
